When your business is interrupted, it’s best to prepare for the worst

Marks Case Studies Image II

Our client had been experiencing issues with their intruder alarm when the worst happened, and their business was seriously damaged by fire caused by arson.

As a plastic injection moulding company, our client used specialised machinery that needed ordering from Italy, causing further delays of several months before they were in a position to start trading again.

As their insurance brokers, Marks Insurance had recommended a 24-month indemnity period in respect of business interruption – which turned out to be essential in this instance. We were able to successfully secure a settlement of over £2,000,500, including £1 million in respect of consequential loss.

Our experience not only allowed us to ensure the client had to the correct cover in the first place, but also to liaise with the insurers and loss adjusters to protect our client’s interests and their assets as Directors. As a wonderful ending to a traumatic experience, the client was able to sell their business and retire happily after the event.
